Who doesn’t have a small scar they wish would disappear? Cellulite, a soft belly, curves that don’t fit society’s mold? Why does nudity—something so natural—make us uncomfortable?
I’m Abigail Fri, an actress and life model, and I used to struggle with these questions myself. Like every child, I started with pure, unfiltered joy in my own skin. But by the time I was five, society’s “rules” started creeping in. At school, the pressure to look a certain way was relentless. I spent years trying to “fix” what was never broken—burying myself under makeup, chasing impossible beauty standards, and feeling like my body was something to be hidden.
Then, at 20, I stumbled into the world of artistic nude modeling. And everything changed. I saw bodies—all bodies—being celebrated. Artists looked at curves, scars, and so-called imperfections with admiration, not criticism. For the first time, I realized: my body wasn’t the problem—society’s perception was.
Now, as a model featured in exhibitions worldwide, I stand by one simple rule: no retouching. Because real bodies are art, just as they are.
